Overview

Explore how Accrington is trail-blazing as a sustainable station.

In this lesson, students will learn about the many sustainable features that can be included in public infrastructure to make them more environmentally friendly and mitigate against climate change. They will study a real example in the north of England (Accrington Eco-Station) and then apply what they learn to a station within their local area. The station used in this resource is Westbury, Wiltshire.

This lesson is packed with essential geographical skills such as location descriptions, maps at different scales, annotation and categorisation, as well as plenty of opportunities to be creative.
