Rail Safety Week – Secondary Assembly

Location
Classroom
Learning Outcomes
Students will understand rail safety, identify railway hazards, and demonstrate knowledge of safe behaviours to prevent accidents and ensure personal safety around trains and tracks.
Duration
20 minutes

Overview

Trespass is a huge problem on the railway with around 19,000 recorded incidents each year – almost one for every mile of track in the country.

This assembly has been created for Rail Safety Week (16th – 22nd June 2025).

It covers all the key safety messages around staying safe at stations, high speed trains, electrification, trespassing and level crossings.

You might be surprised to know the answer’s A – the length of 20 football pitches. That’s approximately 2km! Think a train driver can see that far? No chance.

Feel confident this summer knowing your students have the skills and knowledge to keep themselves safe round the railways.
