Don’t Despoil my Kingdom, Brunel!

Learning Outcomes
Students will identify, summarise and modernise the key arguments in a text, and use these as the basis for forming their own persuasive debate.
2 hours

In this lesson students will discover the true story of how Brunel and Barnes fell out over Brunel’s desire to build a part of the railway through Wessex.

Through a reimagined conversation, they will explore the concept of debating, and identify the structure of a strong argument, using this as the basis for constructing their own persuasive pieces.
